I’ve been an addict for twenty-five years,” *Linda shared.

“This whole year and six months has been beautiful.”

For years, women have participated in NAHT’s Restore classes where they receive mentorship in life skills like money management, grief and loss and job readiness. Last year, Katie Moessner dreamt up the SEEDS program which came with an opportunity for women to apply for a year-long internship working under her guidance and discipleship in our Sweet Daisy Petit Four Shoppe.

SEEDS stands for Support, Equip, Employ, Disciple, Send. It is a paid internship and an intensive discipleship program within NAHT’s social enterprise Sweet Daisy Petit Four Shoppe. The program is led by Katie Moessner, Sweet Daisy’s Creative Director…a title that only minimally describes her work.

Kelsey explains, “Being out there in addiction, no one is happy. People are mean and put you down. But here, we are trying to lift each other up.”

“I’ve been an addict for twenty-five years,” Lana shared. “This whole year and six months has been beautiful.” Both Kelsey and Linda recently celebrated eighteen months of sobriety.

The skills she is acquiring is having impact far beyond the kitchen. “I’m a program manager at my sober living residence. A lot of what I’ve learned here in the past nine months has really helped me in my job.”

Linda nods in agreement. “I handle things differently than I did before,” she states. “I’m learning to work through problems and direct those problems to God.”

Working together has forged a beautiful friendship between the two women. There is a joyous fellowship that is refreshing to witness. And mutual support. “Everything we do here reflects back on our families,” Kelsey notes.

When asked what she dreams about, Linda is quick to respond. “I want to be God’s instrument in my family. I’m trying to get my relationship back with my sons. I want them to look to Jesus. They talk to me. And my older son told me he is interested in going to church.”

Kelsey is also enjoying her relationship with her children and looks forward to spending more time with them.

It’s more than fitting, and in multiple ways, that the motto of Sweet Daisy is “Go ahead and get your hopes up.” It applies to the goodness one will experience when they take that first bite of a petit four, and to the women who are making those delicious pastries. They are invited to get their hopes up for their lives and their futures and all the Lord longs to do for them.

Both Linda and Kelsey talk about how celebration is a regular part of the fabric of Sweet Daisy and NAHT. Celebrating milestones. Celebrating restoration. Celebrating Jesus.

“Before NAHT”, Linda shares, “I wasn’t looking to Jesus. I didn’t know he loved me. And I didn’t know him and now I do. I know he has me.” Kelsey, beaming, states, “He wants me to be authentically, uniquely me with Him. He doesn’t want chains on us. He wants our chains to be broken. He wants us to talk to Him. He’s our father. He wants a relationship with us.”

“Our toolbox is full,” shared Linda and Kelsey.

NAHT currently has over 40 women participating in our Restore program and some dream of following in Lana and Kellie’s footsteps and work in the Sweet Daisy Petit Four Shoppe. Together we can help make this possible as they continue their lives of sobriety and freedom. By becoming a monthly Hope Partner, at any amount, you are showing up for our members every month and bringing hope.

Thank you for inspiring hope,
